What Is the Difference Between a Madman and Donald Trump?

If an ordinary citizen claimed to own the Moon, no one would take him seriously. People would laugh and say that he was crazy. But when the president of a powerful country makes such a claim, it is by no means funny.

Of course, this is only a small example of Donald Trump’s understanding of power; under this understanding, the boundaries between reality and personal desire, political authority and ownership, power and justice have become blurred and even dangerous.

Therefore, we should not ignore this small problem, because given the direction in which things are moving, we must be prepared to confront his unreasonable demands: today the Moon, tomorrow the Sun, the day after that, the territories of other countries, and then all of humanity!

At first glance, this may seem like an exaggeration, but the real problem lies precisely in society’s contemptuous laughter at this absurdity, rather than asking, “Where does this demand come from?”

An ordinary politician may make mistakes, lie, make false promises, or make wrong decisions. But when the leader of one of the most powerful countries in the world repeatedly shows that, when it comes to his demands, he practically has no limits, this is not merely a matter of individual behavior.

This shows that unlimited power is dangerous. Because power that considers itself above the law, institutions, political customs, and even reality is no longer merely a tool of governance; it can impose its own image on millions of people. And this is the paradox of the problem of “madness.” Madness should not be understood as a disease. It is a dangerous gap between desire and reality; in this state, a person is so confident in his own power that he confuses desire with ability and ability with desire.

History shows that the most dangerous politicians are not necessarily those who appear to be crazy; sometimes, they possess the power, wealth, and resources necessary to fulfill their desires.

An ordinary person may dream of owning the world, but ultimately achieves nothing.

But when someone with this mindset controls the army, economy, weapons systems, and foreign policy of a superpower, his personal fantasies are no longer only his own problem.

These fantasies harm others.

The greatest mistake is to always turn a blind eye to this behavior and say, “It is what it is.”

No. The president of a country cannot evade responsibility by saying, “It is what it is.” Those who have the power to make decisions about war and peace, relations between nations, and the fate of millions of people must face the limitations of reality, law, and power more than anyone else.

The more society becomes accustomed to this abnormal behavior, the more acute the problem becomes.

Today, a strange claim. Tomorrow, an even more outrageous claim. The day after that, a decision that was once considered unimaginable. Eventually, what everyone once considered impossible will become a subject of debate.

That is why this issue is so important. Those who make decisions about war and peace, relations between nations, and the fate of millions of people must face the limitations of reality, law, and power more than anyone else. The world does not need politicians who believe that the more power they have, the greater their right to decide the fate of others. Political power is a trust, not an asset. The presidency is not a personal privilege, but a responsibility granted to someone by law and by the people for a limited period of time.

Therefore, political power does not make anyone the master of humanity. Today, millions of civilians around the world are paying the price of their foolish decisions with their lives and property.

However, it is worth noting that if we do not restrain this mindset of expanding unlimited power, this number will sooner or later multiply, and the world will gradually move toward destruction. Those who consider themselves to possess unlimited power will one day use this madness to burn the world they believe they control. At that point, mocking this madness will no longer be enough.
