Power Without Responsibility It is truly heartbreaking that the fate of millions of people lies in the hands of those who have spent years wavering between pride, fear, ambition, and the illusion of power. Those who cannot even control their own anger are allowed to determine the fate of millions, and then speak of the freedom of nations. Worse still, they can send tens of thousands of people to war with a single signature, and then create titles for themselves such as “leader,” “manager,” “national hero,” or even “historian.” But time, titles, and honors are all fleeting. Yet some people in positions of power can plunge the world into a bloody abyss in a very short time. They see nations as their private armies, hold future generations hostage to the decisions of today, and turn the blood of the innocent into their signature upon history.
