Some People's Ears Are Warehouses of Information Some People's Ears Are Warehouses of Information Some people have ears, but their ears are not a home for understanding; they are warehouses of information. They listen to use what they hear—not to understand it, but to store it, recycle it, and spend one day against you. These are the people who appear calm. They nod, and sometimes even smile. But deep inside, they do not see you as someone who deserves to be understood; they see you as a source of material to talk about. You open your heart, believing you are in the safest place. What you don't realize is that your words may return tomorrow through someone else's mouth, polished and embellished—not to help you, not out of compassion, but to control you, gain power over you, or make you feel smaller. These listeners are among the most dangerous kinds of people. They don't shout; They remain silent so they can collect everything. Your pain is not sacred to them—it is ...

Erdoğan: Between Personal Faith and the Architecture of Political Power- Author: Gouya Roshan ( Güya Aydin)

Erdoğan: Between Personal Faith and the Architecture of Political Power Power possesses an insatiable appetite. Left unchecked, it will even enlist religion in its own service. For years, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has presented himself through concepts such as faith, Islam, the nation, mosques, and religious values. For millions of people, he symbolizes the integration of religion into politics. His critics, however, argue that he built a bridge from religion to political power—and once he crossed that bridge, he transformed it into a fortress for preserving his rule. This article is not about hatred; rather, it is about breaking an idol: the idol of Erdoğan's politics, which has too often been placed beyond questioning. If faith is the measure of governance, then why have political positions changed whenever political interests required it? Why has yesterday's enemy become today's partner? Why have agreements been made that contradict yesterday's passionate slogans? If fa...

Which Side Is God On? Author Gouya Roshan

Which Side Is God On? This is perhaps one of the oldest questions in human history. A question that has been asked over and over again—from battlefields to places of worship, from palaces to charitable homes:  Which side is God on? There has rarely been a war in which both sides did not consider themselves the representatives of God. There has been no power that has not used the name of God to legitimize itself. Even some of the greatest crimes have begun under sacred slogans. But is God truly on the side of a particular people, a particular country, a particular religion, or a particular political party? If so, why is history full of the defeats of those who called themselves "the army of God"? Why have governments that engraved the name of God on their banners so often been associated with oppression, corruption, and injustice? If mere claims were enough, there would never have been a tyrant in history who did not believe himself to be right. Perhaps the problem is that p...

I did not leap from one end of the world to the other

Image
I did not leap from one end of the world to the other I emigrated, but I paid the price with my entire being. Because the price of my migration was not merely boarding an airplane, flying for a few hours, getting a few stamps in my passport, and suddenly finding myself in another country. Perhaps that was for the best, because such a short distance could never have transformed me into the person I am today. Therefore: I did not leap from one end of the world to the other. I crossed borders that exist on no map. I crossed the border of language; I had to express my feelings with words that had been foreign to me for years. I realized that silence is sometimes more eloquent than any language. I crossed the border of beliefs—beliefs instilled by family, imposed by society, and exploited for political purposes. In doing so, I learned that no idea is sacred simply because it is old, and no idea is right simply because it is new. Every belief must be measured against truth, justice, an...
